At Tidewalker, we are dedicated to breeding healthy and well-tempered Australian Terriers. We follow all Australian Terrier Club of America (ATCA) health recommendations to ensure the well-being of our dogs. Before breeding, our Australian Terriers undergo a full panel of health screenings, including evaluations for thyroid function, eye health, and patellar stability, as well as DNA testing for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).
Australian Terriers are generally a hardy breed, with a lifespan of approximately 11 to 15 years. While they are typically robust, they can be prone to luxating patellas (slipping kneecaps), occasional allergies, and, in rare cases, diabetes. Maintaining a healthy weight can help manage certain health concerns, including diabetes and joint issues. As with all breeds, cancer and other age-related conditions may arise in their senior years.
